Oh my, I can't even find the time to BLOG?? what the hell is wrong with me??!!
I am telling you now, that within two weeks that disaster of an office will be completely redone, I'm sick of looking at it, and there is potentially a MAJAH!! project in the works. So that little project/hobby (me organizing) needs to get out of my way.
Anybody need some damn yarn? I think I could open my very own Michaels with all that I have.
So, i was hanging out with the coolest chick the other night, and she's on this kick where she is going to take one picture a day. So I started thinking...I should do one blog entry a day. I mean it takes like 5 minutes, and I've been feeling so deficient in creative energy, like its a vitamin I've been missing or something. So, since I don't get out too much for picture taking, I'll post some oldies but goodies. This one is from a trip I took to Sicily back in 2004. It would have been great if I hadn't spent it with someone very mean. But I'll leave that discussion to another time.

so i'm back, settling into things. it was a great trip, got to see some fantastic ladies i've been missing and got to spend some time with my lovely husband who has been on the road far too long. next time i will make more time for the husband though, i'm really missing him lately.

the calm has arrived

One of my favorite people in the world joined the ranks of the wedded on Saturday. Having someone so close to me get married brought up a lot of feelings of inadequacies as a friend. She is only my second friend to get married, my first being the ever fantastic and wonderful Amy. I've always regretted not doing more for Amy. I don't know what was wrong with me but I just feel like I didn't do the stuff a friend was supposed to. She did get married kind of young so I guess I was pretty self absorbed, but I should have been more supportive, helped more with bridal party stuff, etc. So Amy, if you read this, I'm sorry i let you down, I know I've not been the best friend I could be and you've had to deal with me being a flake for so long.
Thanks for putting up with me all these years.

I think I worked pretty hard to be helpful the second time around, and I have the flu to prove it! Anyway, Lilly and Pedro were joined in matrimony on Saturday, and even though I had no date, it was a truly magical evening. (She is sooo Martha its ridiculous, see her amazing set up below)

Since this blog is about hobbies though, one of my favorite things to do is to take pictures. As you can see, I'm best with the inanimate, not too many portraits here...
Oh and I made the bouquet too!!!














Let me finish by saying I wish Lilly and Pedro all the best. I've not been married long so I'm not sure I'm the one to offer advice, but make every minute count, never go to bed angry, and if you can make each other laugh, you'll always be entertained. You have a great future ahead of you, cherish every step you take together.

COOKING :)

So I've been cooking a lot lately. The cupcakes are a tremendous recipe I got from my FAVORITE cooking blog, smittenkitchen.com (thanks Lilly!) Irish carbomb cupcakes! I met my husband over a couple of irish carbombs so this recipe will always hold a special place in my heart. And as a bonus, they are really yummy! I neve would have though of putting Guinness in cake batter but it works and its phenomenal. Not too sweet, just right!
The other picture is of some yummy pasta creation I came up with last night. Ziti with eggplant, spinach, and sundried tomatoes in a goat cheese ricotta sauce. I won't bore anyone with the recipe, but needless to say, it will be a repeat dish.

So I'm maybe a quarter through The Omnivore's Dilemma. Its been a slow read so far, all about corn being the Devil and whatnot. But I'm slowly realizing that there is very likely no way on earth that I can live a more compassionate life as far as animals go. I've given up meat again, not a huge challenge for me. I can buy cage free eggs, and I vow to buy only free-range organic beef and chicken for my family to eat. But are the animals happy? Can any animal be happy when the end of their life will come too soon and only for the purpose of nourishing me? It's so depressing and I'm not entirely sure how to reconcile these feelings with life as I know it.
